Man, 27, is arrested in east London on suspicion of plotting a terror attack while 21-year-old man is held for encouraging terror as police search three properties

A 27-year-old man was arrested at east London residential address earlier today held on suspicion of being concerned in the preparation of acts of terrorism

The man was arrested by officers from the Metropolitan Police’s Terrorism Command at a residential address on suspicion of being concerned in the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism.

He was also detained under section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000 and taken to a south London police station, where he remains in police custody.

A 21-year-old man was also arrested today at a different address in east London on suspicion of encouragement of terrorism and dissemination of terrorist publications.

He also remains in police custody in south London.

Officers are carrying out searches at the two addresses where the arrests were made, as well as a third commercial premises in east London.
