Witnesses said home surrounding Dunstable Road in Luton had been evacuated
Two men have been arrested after explosives were found in a car on a Luton street.
Witnesses said nearby homes were evacuated.
A Bedfordshire Police spokesman said: We are currently attending an incident in Dunstable Road, Luton, where a suspicious device has been found in a car.
Dunstable Road has been closed between Nadeem Plaza and Francis Street, and an explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) team are in attendance.
One man was arrested at the scene and a second man was arrested shortly afterwards in Brook Street, Luton, in connection with the same incident.
Brook Street has also been closed as a precaution.
People are advised to avoid both Brook Street and Dunstable Road and seek alternative routes.
