TINYg in action: Senior Appointment | Membership announcement.

The TINYg team are delighted to announce that Deputy Assistant Commissioner Matt Twist | Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism Command is joining our International Advisory Board with immediate effect.

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Matt Twist joined the Met in 1996 as a Police Constable. The vast majority of his service has been spent in operational roles including Emergency response, Special Branch, the Specialist Firearms Command and Aviation Security.

Matt was promoted to DAC responsible for Transformation in April 2018, leading large programmes including the continued Armed Uplift, Smarter Working and Central Estates. In October 2019, he was appointed by the Commissioner to lead a team implementing the recommendations and learning in relation to Sir Richard Henriques Independent Review of the Metropolitan Police Service handling of non-recent sexual offence investigations alleged against persons of public prominence.

Most recently, moving to Specialist Operations in March 2021, DAC Twist has responsibility for Protection and Security, including Royal and Specialist Protection, Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection, Aviation Security and Protective Security Operations. He is also the Senior National Co-ordinator for the Protect and Prepare strands of the CONTEST Strategy.

He retains his role as SRO for the Central Estates Programme responsible for delivering the CT Operations Centre. He remains operational as a Public Order Gold Commander, Strategic Firearms Commander and NPCC CT Commander.
