Portsmouth man, 19, charged with weapons and terror offences

A 19-year-old man has been charged with attempting to manufacture a weapon and possessing documents that could be used for preparing an act of terrorism.

Jack Robinson, of Hawthorne Crescent, Portsmouth, Hampshire, was charged on Saturday.

He is accused of several offences under Section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000 and section 5 of the Firearms Act 1968.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court later to face the charges.

Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE) said he had been charged with:

  • Six counts of possession of a document or record containing information of a kind likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism, contrary to Section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000
  • One count of attempting to manufacture a prohibited weapon
  • One count of possession of a component part of a prohibited weapon, contrary to section 5 of the Firearms Act 1968
