David Evans

TiNYg Founder

A vision that continues to protect people around the world.

Some people build businesses.

Some build organisations.

David Evans built a global community.

His vision lives on ….

In 2006, after more than thirty years serving with the Metropolitan Police in London, David recognised something that many others had overlooked. Terrorism affected governments, businesses, emergency services and communities alike, yet those responsible for protecting people often worked in isolation.

David believed there had to be a better way

His answer was TiNYg – the Terrorism Information Network Group.

His vision was simple but revolutionary: create a trusted international network where professionals could freely share knowledge, experience and best practice, regardless of organisation, country or budget.
That philosophy remains the foundation of TiNYg today.

From one meeting to a global network

TiNYg’s story began with a single conference held in New York in 2006, organised with colleagues from London and New York who shared David’s belief that collaboration saves lives.
What followed exceeded anything David could have imagined.
Under his leadership, TiNYg grew into one of the world’s largest, free, counter-terrorism information-sharing networks bringing together members from across the globe.

Over the next two decades TiNYg:

• Hosted more than 100 international conferences and professional briefings.
• Distributed over two million terrorism and security alerts.
• Built trusted partnerships with law enforcement agencies, government departments, security professionals, academia and private industry across the world.
• Created an international network where information, experience and expertise could be shared without commercial barriers.

David insisted that membership of TiNYg should always remain free.
He believed that access to potentially life-saving information should never depend upon an organisation’s size or financial resources.

A career dedicated to protecting others

Before founding TiNYg, David served for over thirty years with the Metropolitan Police.
During his policing career he specialised in counter-terrorism, protective security, firearms operations, explosive search, operational planning and the protection of dignitaries and high-profile visitors. His experience placed him at the forefront of the UK’s evolving response to terrorism and security threats.
After leaving policing, David successfully founded Global Aware International, developing it into a respected international security and intelligence business before its acquisition by Mitie in 2019.
He later held senior leadership positions across the security sector, including with Kings Secure Technologies and Global Situational Awareness, while never losing sight of his commitment to TiNYg and its members.

The man behind the organisation

Those who knew David rarely began by talking about his achievements.
Instead, they spoke about his kindness.
They remembered a man who always made time for others, encouraged younger professionals, celebrated other people’s success and quietly connected individuals who could help one another.
He possessed a rare ability to bring together senior police officers, government leaders, academics, security specialists and business executives, creating relationships built on trust rather than hierarchy.
For many within the international security community, David was not simply a chairman.
He was a mentor.
A friend.
And the person who introduced them to a network that changed both their careers and their lives.

His legacy lives on

David Evans’ legacy cannot be measured simply by the organisation he founded.
It lives on in every partnership created through TiNYg.
In every conference where experts share knowledge.
In every threat alert that reaches someone who needs it.
And in every professional who believes that cooperation is stronger than competition.
Today TiNYg continues under the leadership of his wife Sarah Evans, carrying forward the principles David established nearly twenty years ago.
His belief that collaboration, trusted relationships and the free exchange of knowledge are among the world’s strongest defences against terrorism continues to guide TiNYg and the global security community.
